would amlodipine be a comparable subsitute for procardia my dr prescribed me procardia and it was to exspensive my pharmacist reccomended amlodipine as an alternative it is being prescribed to me for my troubles with being very painfully cold

Procardia (nifedipine) and amlodipine are from the same class of medicine, called calcium channel blockers. They relax (widens) your blood vessels (veins and arteries), which makes it easier for the heart to pump and reduces its workload.
