The usual recommended daily dosage for pediatric patients is 25 to 50 mg/kg in divided doses.
72lbs = 32kg so total daily dose range is 800 mg-1600 mg, taken in divided doses. This dose can be doubled in very severe cases.
You didn't say how many times a day she was taking the 500 mg dose?
