Locenox takes the place of the blood thinner your on daily, like warfarin.
warfarin is given at a dose to keep your blood at a certin level of thickness

Lovenox (enoxaparin) was first approved by the FDA in 1993.

I was on Lovenox before I was switched to Arixtra since my cardiologist in conference with my hematologist was concerned with the long term effects of Lovenox on bone density. As you get older you will need to have more regular testing if you stay on the Lovenox, especially true for women. I would make it a topic for your doctors to discuss for your situation. Also you may not know that both Arixtra and Lovenox now have FDA approved generic forms. I would discuss this with your docs as well.
