Is it ok taking skelaxin with hep C should I take smaller amounts than 800 mg?

Skelaxin (metaxalone) is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) in the brain.
The recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is one 800 mg tablet three to four times a day.
Did the prescribing doctor know of your Hepatitis C?
The manufacturer considers the use of metaxalone to be contraindicated in patients with severely impaired liver function.
You may need to have liver tests to make sure Skelaxin is not reducing your liver function.

Thank U Suzanne. I told my DR. that I have Hep C and he said it would be alwright but he's not the one treating me for my liver. He's ansports medicine ortho pedic dr. I'm reluctant to take ANY kind of meds. This was prescribed for muscle spasm in my thigh which a got from working on my feet all day.
