I take oxycontine 60mg 2x daily and oxycodone 30mg 2x for breakthrough. I had a lot of my meds stolen and have had to take lortab 10mg that I had left from oral surgery a while back. Will this throw my urine test or does it show up the same?
In a urine drug test does lortab show up the same as oxycodone?
Added 16 Feb 2010:
I've also had 3 or 4 urine tests come back positive for THC. I haven't done this or been around it for over 5 yrs. What can cause a false/positive result for this. My last pain dr. dismissed me for this. How do you prove its false. Very frustrating!

How were your drugs stollen were you robbed or did someone you know take them from you without telling you? If your pills were stolen then when you take your urine test be honest and tell them what you are taking in place of your regular meds and your doctor will not let you go cold turkey without meds he/she is responsible to give you so much time to find a new Doc if they choose to stop treating you and enough medication to hold you for that amount of time. All you have to do is be honest and you should have nothing to worry about. good luck hope this helps

I had a urine test on 2/18/10 after not taking oxycodone for over 3 1/2 months, and only taking hydrocodone for pain the last 1 1/2 months (since 1/13/10, last oxy: 10/31/09), and the test came back positive for opiates and oxycodone. My pharmacist said the 2 drugs were so similar that it would not be unusual for that to happen. I have no idea why as I am positive about not having taken any oxy. The pharmacist said it had something to do with the water molecule in their formulas. (It didn't make any sense to me either.) They sent my test/sample off to a mass spectrometer lab to verify the results. If it still shows oxy, they will drop me as a patient! Ever since they started selling suboxone & had a compliance visit from the DEA, this office has been a nightmare. I am glad you found a good Dr.
I do not have a lot of choice up here in Montana, and the stress and anxiety from having an entire office of 'pain management' specialists not trust me is really getting to me. If anyone has any idea how hydrocodone could come out as oxycodone on a high end ($440.00) drug/urine screen, please let me know-or if this has happened to you or anyone you know. Thanks & good luck with your new Dr.

Depending on the urine test used, oxycodone can rarely show up as hydrocodone (lortab); lortab usually shows up as 'opiate', where oxy will show up as oxycodone (if the test specifically separates oxycodone from hydrocodone, you will test positive for opiates/hydrocodone.) If you eat poppy seed cake it can show up as 'opiate' on some urine screens. Any hemp seed product (sometimes sesame seeds-or health bars with varius seed combinations) can show false positive urine test results for THC. I would not lie & use any of these possibilities as an excuse for taking drugs you are not supposed to take, most Drs will not believe you anyway. If you are having incorrect drug screens the best thing is to research (ask several pharmacists) and go over your diet. People with diabetes can test positive for alcohol due to the way their bodies are not processing sugar correctly.
If you are 100% certain that your test is wrong, and you can afford it, get another test and have it sent out for a detailed analysis with an outside lab. I believe it can take 1-2 weeks for lortab to not show in a urine test. I am not familiar about blood testing time limits. Hope this was informative.

It depends on what kind of tests they are doing. If they are just doing a panel test-opiates come up as opiates, thc as thc, benzodiazapines as... It doesn't differentiate between all the different generics just as the drug type. A gas chromotography test will tell them everything. I am not sure if they go to that expense or not. If they are dipping a strip into your urine and it is showing oxy, lortab, or valium, xanax, specifically named they are using some new technology that would not be too accurate. All those test are good for is telling wheter you took an opiate containing drug or benzo, or amphetamine..ect.

I took Nyquil and it caused a false positive for THC. I had to request/demand a second test that I had to pay for. It was sent to an independent lab, in other words, a more accurate test. And where I go, if your meds get ripped off, or whatever, too bad, so sad... they will NOT be replaced even with a police report. That's Western Ky. for ya.

LET ME CLEAR THE AIR. IM A NIRSE AND certified LAB TECH THAT HAS WORKED IN PROBATIONS AND PAROLE!!
The only thing that will show is you be be positive for opiates IN A URINE TEST... unless they send it to the lab to confirm which opiate. If u can just get a copy of ur old rx from pharmacy u should be fine or take ur old rx bottle
