I have never heard of a Dr leaving Implanon in until one gets a period. It should be replaced when it is due to be replaced. Many women have irregular bleeding when they have Implanon. It is not necessary to have a period to prove Implanon is not working anymore. This situation sounds very strange to me. If your Implanon is over due to be replaced, you are essentially on no birth control now so do NOT rely on the device to prevent pregnancy. You should be using a back up method such as condoms until you get the new one in.
