Hello,
I believe this medication is not used by addicts and has no potential for abuse as imipramine is in a group of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants. Imipramine affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced. Imipramine is used to treat symptoms of depression.
Take care

I agree with maso, I can't imagine anyone abusing this med. Perhaps you should talk to "friend" that took the pills, I believe (if memory serves, and it doesn't always) that Imip can cause heart problems, especially if abused!
Best wishes to you,
if you think that ur friend may be a drug addict, then maybe its possible that this person grabbed a handful of pills thinking/hoping that they were something else. i would def lock the meds up when company comes over from now on. xoxo
