Are there any Vitamins I can be taking now to prevent this from getting worse?I will be on this dose for a long time, I've been on it 11 months and I don't see the doc until Jan 2012.
I'm on Pravastatin 80mg.I am losing my hair badly. Will it grow back when she reduces my dose?

Alopecia (hair loss) caused by drugs usually stops once treatment is stopped.
Are you sure the Pravastatin is the cause of your hair loss?
You should see your doctor though if it is concerning you.
Lipitor, another type of statin, does not have alopecia as a reported side effect. It could be worth considering.

I was on Lipitor for 2 yrs and it started causing real bad headaches. The doctor took me off that and put me on 40 mg of Pravastatin until I had a several mini strokes and my cholesterol shot up over 400, then she increased it to 80 mg. After 6 months my cholesterol dropped to 237, so she wants me on it another 6 months before she reduces the dose. I was losing hair at 40 mg {alittle}. With the increase it has got considerably worse. The doctor says it is from the Pravastatin but had no answer for me as far as what to take. She sugested talking to a pharmacist. My hair won't hold a perm any more either, I tried that months ago and it fell out in one week. The pharmacist sugested vitamin E, and I read that makes your hair fall out as well.Please help me if you can.I also take Lisinopril 10mg.
