My doctor needs verification for using Pradaxa with patients who are or
have a heart valve replacement metalic type. Outside of patients who
have irregular heart rythem.
Advice me as soon as posible, thank you.

I am currently on coumadin because of metalic heart valve replacement.
Is it safe to replace coumadin for pradaxa as a blood thinner?

Are you seeing a cardiologist? I would have thought that (s)he would have prescribed Plavix or either Arixtra or Lovenox. How are you doing on the Warfarin and how often do you have to get tested? I would not recommend using Pradaxa just yet. There are a lot of issues that are coming out now after its approval and you have to be very careful how you store it. You cannot take it out of the container that is comes in from Boehringer Ingelheim as it has a humidifier built into the cap and you have to use all of the medication within 30 days once you open the bottle.
