They are exactly the same when it comes to the active ingredient. There is no difference in performance. They will both work great. You have to be having mild to moderate withdrawals before you start taking Suboxone/Subutex. I would recommend going to detox. They will give you injections of Buprenorphine (The active ingredient of both Suboxone and Subutex.) Then start using Suboxone. The difference between the two is that you can't inject Suboxone because it contains Naloxone which will cause you to have withdrawals if you try to inject it. Subutex doesn't have that in it. Most doctors prescribed Suboxone instead of Subutex. Hope this helps and gives you enough information! Good luck!

I was on methadone for 17 months and got down to 30 and I still wanted to get down a little more so I got down to 15 within a month and stopped five days later total withdrawal. that night i went to rehab because i didnt want to use. they gave me 2mg suboxone 4 times a day and then tapered. I felt fine. Just be in mild to moderate withdrawals like mit says or you will go into complete withdrawal. methadone has a long half life of up to 72hours so remember that. r u on a clinic or prescribed it for pain. Your on your way if your on 30mg. if you do go on suboxone make sure you try to stay at the lowest dose possible. Buprenorphine is actually measured in micrograms for it analgesic properties compared to other narcotics and is very powerfull. I am currently on 2mg roughly three months later and the methadone I still feel it every now and then but I think it was a good switch for me.Which everone you use be in WITHDRAWAL AND DO YOU HAVE A DOCTOR WHO IS GOING TO PRESCRIBE IT. MOST DETOX HAVE PROTOCOLS AND GIVE IT JUST FOR 4-6 DAYS AND THEN IT LAST FOR UP TO 36 HOURS SO YOU LEAVE THE DETOX AND BOOM YOU FEEL LIKE SHIT BECAUSE METHADONE HAS A LONGER DETOX, SO HAVE A DOCTOR LINE UP TO PRESCRIBE YOU SUBS IF YOUR GOING TO BE ON IT FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. GOOD LUCK AND U CAN DO FINE WITH SUBS.
