Im in search of support groups for depression & gastroparesis where you can talk about your?

Tee6759..I can relate to your mother driving you crazy about your gastrperesis. I was diagnosed about 5 years ago now, but suffered with it for over 10. My husband and I were always at odds about the treatment (drugs) I was getting for it. Also how violently sick I was most of the time. He along with the Dr's thought it was all in my head and was just saying I was in pain to receive the very strong painkillers I was being prescribed... not true. It can become very painful at times. We actually separated for 6 months or more because of it. The Dr's would tell me I was faking or I had some psych issues, even going as far as to put me in a psych ward for it Finally we moved to another province and I received the proper diagnosis. What a relief to know and have actual proof that I was not crazy and that it wasn't just in my head.

My husband and I since have gotten back together, now that he too realizes that I wasn't just faking for the drugs and I wasn't crazy. We still struggle with it everyday ( the disease). Sometimes counseling may help, but it's not for everyone. Maybe try to find some info for your mother so she can understand the disease a little better. I was lucky to find a nurse (while I was in hospital for the disease) who suffered the same problem, except she wasn't a diabetic like myself (which makes the disease much harder to control) Good luck with your mother!! Hey there Tee! I certainly understand your problem, & don't be shy about talking about it. Maybe getting some printed material for your Mom to read about your condition, & the medications you take for it would help her out in understanding your difficulties. I know it helps me to understand a lot better. Am slowly getting my magazine subscritpions down since I have the internet where you can find anything, but if you can't find what you need, ask your pharmatist about hands outs concerning your disease. I know Osco has quite a few. Don't know about other drug stores. You could just print out the info from this web site too if you have a printer. Hope she's into reading. If not, maybe you could read it for her. You are welcome to make any or all comments you want on this site. That's what we are here for. Now I think I will read up on your condition for myself! Mary, and Von, Laurie, and Everyone, thank you all for your support. Its not that I havent tried explaining this to my mother. Its the simple fact that she is NOT interested in my condition. She is only interested in the drugs I am taking and what they are all for. She asked me yesterday if the doctors know what they are prescribing for me, and or are they just handing me the pills? What do each of the pills do for me? What different pain pills am I on? Why am I on so many depression meds? Do your doctors check for interactions? When I told her that, of course my doctors are talking to each other so they can COORDINATE my care together, she refused to believe that!!! Go figure!!! I also check my medications against the drug interaction checker here onsite for my own peace of mind, she told me she knew *I* would do that, but do the doctors do it? Do you realize her mentality now? My mother also has a problem with alcohol, folks.

She also tried to cause me trouble years ago when I was not quite on so much medication then. She's yet to realize I know she was the one behind the worst incident in my life that involved my daughter at the age of 2. And that is all I will say on that subject. Needless to say, it backfired in her face. I guess some things can never just be left alone by some people. Instead of receiving her love, I received her condemnation for remaining neutral when my folks divorced. There was no limit to the depths of her vengence against me for that faux paux, folks.
And now because of all the stress in my life, the relentless pain (which she swears to this day is all in my head, and there is nothing wrong with me), my stomach has now failed and shut down. Hence, the gastroparesis.
Well, I have now vented all I can handle at this point. My stomach is rolling, and the pain is unbearable. I had to visit her yesterday, and what you read above is what I faced last night in 90 mins of seeing her. My daughter finally told me it was time and she was taking me home. God truly blessed me with an angel when He gave her to me! Im tired now, I thank you all for listening, letting me vent, and I need to take something seriously for the pain right now.
