If you quit smoking with the aid of Wellbutrin or Chantix, please indicate how long?

Hello Less than human. My son was on wellbutrin and it took him about 6 months. He was a pack a day smoker. I believe his dose was 150mg. I was on it, wellbutrin for depression, was a smoker at the time, my dose was 300mg, and it did nothing to curb my addiction and cravings. So, we're all different. what works for one, doesn't do so for another. Best wishes to you,

My Doctor prescribed Wellbutrin to help me quit smoking. She started me on 75mg and told me to gradually increase it to 150mg. After about 3 weeks I noticed I was smoking less. A couple of weeks later I became very depressed,
then suicidal. I was really scared because I didn't know why I was feeling so bad.
Then I realized it had to be the Wellbutrin. I called my Doctor immediately, and she told me to go off of it gradually and never take it again. I have told this to a couple of other Doctors since then, and one didn't even know that depression was a side effect of Wellbutrin, and the other acted as if he didn't believe me. But it's true, because once I was off the Wellbutrin for a few weeks, I was back to my normal self. If you are taking Wellbutrin, please be careful and if you notice any signs of depression or any mood changes, call your Doctor right away.

The first thing I did after I was diagnosed with emphysema( a great shock to me by the way) was grab the chantix and run it took 6 weeks on chantix not a drug that is easy to take but I was inspired sooooooo.that was in July that I stopped and one day at a time I never will again.I rarely crave one which is funny because as you've probably noticed most of us are addicts,I am anyway.it worked... but not being a dr I still would read all the side effects that this drug can induce.and at the same time it helped me quit so,good luck!c.
