because i am spotting when it is not my period, and i've never really ever spotted before?

No, the heat of the car should not affect the effectiveness of the pill.
However you should try and keep your tablets out of direct heat.
Spotting is very common with all birth control pills. You need not worry unless your spotting is heavy and continual in which case see your doctor.
Despite the spotting you still will have full contraceptive cover.
