Hair loss is an uncommon side effect of Apriso (mesalamine). In clinical studies, less than 3 percent of people reported hair loss as one of Apriso's side effects (although the exact percentage was not reported).
Given how common hair loss is in the general public, however, it is difficult to tell if a particular case of hair loss is caused by Apriso or other factors. If you experience hair loss while taking Apriso, talk with your healthcare provider. Depending on how severe the hair loss is, there are things that he or she may suggest. It is possible that if hair loss is bothersome to you, your healthcare provider may recommend adjusting the Apriso dosage or trying another ulcerative colitis medication.
Best wishes!
