What is the typical followup course of action. Are there any other sufficient drugs that don't create risk during pregnancy or cause depleted sexual drive that work for anxiety

You will need to discuss this with your doctor who is aware of the patients medical history. Notable improvement is good... without knowing any of your clients medical history I would definitely recommend continuing treatment until your doctor recommends otherwise.
Yes, Buspirone is indicated for short term use for treatment of anxiety.
