Have tried synthyroid, cytomel and have had problems with these drug, brain fog, and tiredness do not go away. Armour worked the best. How do I get more of it?
If all the Pharmacys are out of the drug Armour how do you obtain more?

Armour thyroid is in short supply and seems to be having production difficulties. If you can not find Armour thyroid you will have no other alternative but to go back to a synthetic thyroid hormone. You are not alone in your views. See http://thyroid.about.com/od/thyroiddrugstreatments/tp/desiccated-thyroid-2009.htm

Canadian pharmacies do have the natural thyroid (Armour). My endo wrote me a prescription and I ordered it online through northwestpharmacy dot com. It's not covered by insurance and is a bit more expensive. But like many others, they synthetic stuff just never worked as well for me. Once I placed my order and faxed them my prescription, I received my order within a couple of days. I'm hoping it will get me through until it's available at my local pharmacy.

You can have your endo write a new prescription for Armour and include that it can be compounded. Take it to an apothecary shop/specialty pharmacy that will compound it for you. I live in Arizona and there are several that do this. It is exactly the same and I have had no challenges with switching to the compounded formula. I did have problems absorbing the synthetic version, specifically Synthroid. I was on it for 4 months after a total thyroidectomy with no change in levels. The Armour made a difference within days. So you don't have to switch to synthetic if you can find a compounding pharmacy.
