My Dr has just about tried every thing and nothing seem to be able to keep me wake and alert during the day. I do not fall asleep standing, but my legs twitch all the time, eating I have a great appetite, or driving because I don't do it often ,but as soon as my shoes are off and I'm relaxed it's game over. night night... I do not have an additive personality and do not take social drugs there for I do not think that I would be at risk to try anything that might help my family and I deal with this sickness. Please I need help.
I would really like to know what is the best medication to take for Narcolepcy?

Stimulants are probably the best medication for Narcolepsy. Adderall is a great medication. If you have tried all the stimulants than I would recommend a different drug (Most doctor's will not prescribe this drug do to the fact that It contains GHB which is abused on the streets. It's called Xyrem which is FDA approved to treat Narcolepsy. It's a liquid solution and is shipped directly to you through Fed Ex or UPS. If you aren't home to recieve this medication it goes straight back to the manufacture. It helps many people though. It's just a matter of seeing if your doctor will prescribe it. It's a schedule 3 drug if taken as directed but if abused it's considered a schedule 1 drug making it illegal to have and use according to the DEA and FDA. The first step would be trying all the Stimulants such as Adderall. If no stimulants work then you could possibly try the Zyrem. Hope this helps. Good luck to you and I wish you the best of luck and hope you get the treatment you need.

You do not have Narcolepcy. That is good news.
Get a sleep study done by a Neurologist. That will tell you all about your leg twitching and and brain activity while you are asleep. You will not know what is happening till you have this done.
BTW: This is done in a sleep center

There is a medication that is used specifically to treat Narcolepsy, sleep apnea, most sleep disorders. The name of the medication is "Provigil" which is also a stimulant yet geared toward the above mentioned sleep disorders. As opposed to Adderall, Ritalin, etc., these are more specifically used to treat disorders such as ADHD. Should your MD diagnose you with Narcolepsy, he/she would be best suited in ascertaining which medication(s) with which you would benefit from, the most. Chin up and best of luck to you~
