because buspar is NO good i took it an threw the rest away after taking it for about 6 weeks ... the ONLY thing that is going to get rid of panic attacks is xanax valium or klonopin... i would go to a doctor (if i were you)an get the proper medicine.depression an panic attacks are 2 very different mental problems.when doctors realize this i think the people with these 2 different problems will be a whole lot better off... good luck an take care

buspar is a bad bad drug. It worked for 2 weeks then stopped. So the doctor took me off of it and I had worse anxiety than ever before. Now i'm on a low dose of klonopin and so relieved that it is still working 2 years later. my anxiety has also dropped considerably so i don't have to take klonopin too often.
thANKS YOU VERY MUCH

I'm with you, lindagail. I was given buspar, trazodone and clonidine for my anxiety/panic attacks. None of them worked and caused terrible side effects. I have never met a doctor I liked. More suffering is caused by doctor's fear or ignorance.
I am so glad to hear someone agrees with me! My doc abruptly took me off klonopin 1mg 3xs daily and put me on buspar and amitriptyline to try. Neither helps.. I cried and he just kept talking about his license.. I have no insurance and I dont have the money nor the time for this. I know the klonopin works! And just frustrated that he is running me in circles. I don't know how helping me would ever put his license in jeopardy.
I was on xanax, .5mg/1-2/daily for about a yr. Now I take 5mg. Buspar/2-3/daily and feel fine. You must remember that all benzos are highly physically and psychologically addictive and you come to rely on them. I was also on Wellbutrin, but went off after 6 months 'cause I felt like I was speeding. Give Buspar time. (It could take 6 wks.to become effective). Maybe your doctor could add an anti-depressant, as well. After a while, your benzos won't work unless you double-up your dosage and you'll really have a hard time coming off of them, as well. Like alcohol, benzos will never make you feel as good as the first pill you took! You cannot duplicate that euphoric/relaxed feeling that you're looking for. Try and talk to your doctor and discuss other optional meds that are non-addictive. Don't give up. You CAN live w/out benzos.
They're good, occasionally, but relying upon them on a daily basis, in my opinion, is not a good idea.
Good luck to you and don't give up!
