I have been taking plain paxil 20 mg for 2 mos. My anxiety has come back and my dr. prescribed paxil cr at a higher dose. I feel this dosage may be to high.

I was actually at my doctor for the same reason today. I was on Paxil 20 mg and he raised it to 30mg with the option of 40mg if that doesn't help. He explained that anxiety usually is treated with between 30 and 60mg. I'm not sure if there is a big difference with paxil-cr... I think it it just how it is released over time in the body. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for your comment. I was hoping my dr. would just up it to 30 but, she put me on the time released instead. I am leary of trying it. I was feeling so much better since I started the paxil 20 mg 2 mos. ago but my anxiety came back. Not sure what to do.
