Novolog is a very fast acting insulin - it is usually given 5 to 10 minutes before a meal and is effective for 3 to 5 hours.
Novolin R is a short acting insulin. It starts to lower blood sugar 30 minutes to 60 minutes after injecting it and its effects last for around 5 to 7 hours.
You may have to adjust your dosage, or the timing, of your injections initially.
Talk to your diabetic specialist.
