I have been on Amitriptylin for around 10 years (sleep study Dr. put me on this Rx). I did not know it was generic for Paxal, until now. I have also have stopped taking Vicodin, Klonopin, Bella AIK/PB/MYLANTA for IBS. My dr said it was okay to stop this with out weaning off this medicine. I have had withdrawal from stopping the others meds. I have all of the side effects of amitriptylin. I had a gastric bypass 07012008, i have lost 71 lbs, no one has really monitored my meds. That is why I am researching all of my meds.
I want to stop amitriptylin. How do I do this?

Amitryptiline is actually the generic of Elavil. Paxil is a SSRI and Elavil is a tri cyclic antidepressent. You should taper your doses down for a few weeks. You didn't say what milligram you were on, but, your doctor or pharmacist should be able to help you taper the dose until you are off of it.
