It's been my experience that high anxiety, has a great deal to do with agitation and it elevates into anger. Is this what most of you out there think?

You've got THAT right! I've been very anxious about my medical issues, which make me a little agitated, and I sure did turn it in to anger! Just ask itsmetoo! For me, I need to learn how to deal with my pending surgery, my husband's recent surgery, without letting the anxiety elevate. Maybe I should try meditating. Joining this forum has helped me deal with some of these issues. But then I'll read something that I either don't agree with or feel like the other person isn't willing to do anything to help themselves, and I know I shouldn't let it bother me. Sometimes I just break! I need to learn some techniques to stop it at the beginning, handle things better. Great question!

Yes I must agree because that's how I feel and react. But I thought this was all part and parcel in suffering from depression. I still get very agitated even when I dont know why sometimes I think I am just being too impatient with others and with myself. Thank you bucky 1 it is great to know I am not alone. cheers mate
malandwinn... you are definitely NOT alone! "Cheers Mate" we going International? Have a good day too mate. It is morning there? If so, have a cup of Joe for me, I'm on my way to bed.
The problem with solutions is everyone has their own trigger points. My son suffers severe road rage. Me, (when I was driving) could care less about the other guy acting like a fool behind the wheel. Weaving in and out of traffic, only to end up right next to me 2 lights down. What's the hurry? You're getting no where just as fast as I am! And then you have the people who handle all things good and bad, in a way that totally makes my jaw drop. Like the pressures of being a surgical nurse, window washers on skyscrapers, how do they handle the pressure and anxiety?

WOW, That is telling it like it is! So I guess that's why we lose it when someone so much as cuts us off in traffic. I never would have thought about throwing in the agitation between the high anxiety and the agression. You are just so right! I don't know if anyone else agrees but I think anxiety has hit an all time high this past year or so. People already were dealing with their pain issues and trying too seek out their own answers that we can;t get from our doctors, our pharmacists or even our p/m docs. This world was already tough enough, and now we have to deal with foreclosures, employment losses, and trying to bring up the next generation because the competion is so great for late teens and early adults. These kids are grown chroniclogically but they are not mature because its a "junlge out there:". Not making fun either I am serious I know my 24 yr. old and 25 yr. old are struggling everyday.
Good morning Queen. You hit points right on the head! The biggest triggers our country has faced in generations! Kids don't become independent sooner than we, older folks, did. Too many parents want to be "friends" with their kids. But there comes a point when the parent gets tired of still "raising" a child at the age of 25 to 30. Like mine, they depend on you for many things including $$. "Sorry babe, can't do it anymore". For me, that triggers anxiety because I feel like I'm booting them out the door. And we had the unfortunate unforeseen disasters slap us in the face. Medically, financially, emotionally... all triggers that lead to anxiety, irritability, anger... and some of us snap. I did the unforgivable and snapped online, here, where I come for comfort, support, information, basically biting the hand that fed me. When I try to help someone by answering the best I can, it helps me in knowing I did my best trying to help.
I am on the subject of why kids lean on us for so much, even when I was 18 I just woke up one day and decided I was moving out for the summer which turned into the fall and before I knew it I was 23! Things were so much easier then. I explained that my dad passed and left my mom more money than she could in her lifetime. What my kids don't understand is quite simply put by them both " gram could just give you your inheritance early, and then you could give us money. First off, I do not feel that almost anyone is money savvy until they are thirty or so, I am not in need of anything myself (but a job since Iwas laid off) My unemployment keeps me going and this is my third extension. Soon their will be a job in the future, jobs in my field are few and far between, I am not liscenced to do surgery, although at my last job I did assist. My point is if I needed part of my inheritance I could get it but I need a job for the satifaction at the the end of the day.

what about solutions to dealing with anxiety and agitation? I know lifes problems won't just go away... so that means my reaction to them is the only way to make things better... perception is reality... but how do you all change the way you react to anxiety... i know no one answer fits every one but one answer may fit someone and that counts too
One answer is to slow down. try to make yourself stop and think before you start yelling. Instead of going off, walk away and take a cool down period.
It keeps you from saying mean things, that you really don't mean.
