Around 10% people who take Toprol XL feel tired, its an common side effect, please ask your doc who prescribed the med to find a remedy or change the med, you could also seek a second opinion, take care & all the best.

You did not mention when your fatigue started. Did it start soon after starting Toprol or recently? I believe that one of the symptoms of Toprol is sleepiness as well as dizziness. You are taking the lowest dose which is what I was on. I had to get off it and change it because of the light headedness it was giving me as well as vision problems. I do not think that a couple of hours of nap time is a concern at 84. It could be you are not getting the restful sleep you thought you were getting resulting in a bit more zzzz time needed. You know bottom line is everyone reacts differently to Toprol. If all your test results are normal and you believe it to be Toprol have your Doctor change your prescription. Toprol is a great medication and works wonders on a number of symptoms but if it is affecting the quality of your life by feeling constant fatigue then change it. Just keep in mind that if your symptoms recently started then I doubt it is Toprol since you started that in Dec. By the way are you on Toprol XL once a day? What time are you taking it? Before you go to bed or in the morning? Try changing the time you take it since toprol XL is time release that might help some if you are on XL.
It could be just some adjustments are needed.
Like I said if your tired of feeling tired then tell your doctor you want to try something else. There are plenty of other medications that do what Toprol does.
By the way you sound pretty darn together for being a young 84 so do not allow the docs to tell you what your feeling or tell you its all in your head. Change your meds if your not happy!
Take care.
