It does not seem as effective as when I began the medicine. I did feel great initially but now I feel the anxiety, edginess and fullness in my chest returning. I take 225mg now. Should I ask to increase my dose or should I ask to suuplement it with Xanax or Abilify? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

ask your dr for xanax, just for the initial onset of panic attacks, thats what i take and its a life saver let me tell you, it keeps me from going to the er wich happend twice, and thats when i first got a shot of atavan, and xanax, i let my dr know what i was given so now i always have a small amount of xanax for my attacks at home. i asked about abilify, and my dr and also our friends here on this site dont think abilify is anything great

Hello Oceanblue12. Since the effexor was working well in the beginning, Id increase it to 300mg. Thatys the so called maintence dose that people who take effexor do well on. If you don't feel any improvement, then you could look at other options. Not a good idea to mix xanax and effexor, for if you do you'll find yourself fairly sedated, and so going to work, daily routines will become much more difficult. best to you,
Hey there Mary, tad late in saying hello. True though isn't it, better to be safe than sorry. Often we forget that aside from a normal but not common side effect, we can also have a severe reaction, thats not in the notes so to speak. Thats always plays in the back of my mind. Thats why the FDA is always asking,us, the consumer, to report any adverse effects, so they can log it etc., Hoping you have a good afternoon, all be it already late here. Coffee is still to be had, so take a rest, enjoy, and we'll see you.

Thanks, pledge. that sounds like good advice. I'm increasing my dose to 300mg. Do you have any idea of how long it takes before I notice a change?
Thanks for being so helpful.
You're welcome Oceanblue. It really shouldn't take that long. Since your system has already adjusted itself to the drug, I'd say not more than a week, give or take day and hopefully, then you'll be feeling more like your old self again. Have a goodday then.
