... 911 . All tests in hospital were ok sent me to a neuro who did a 48 hr.EEG . It showed I have many seizures that I don't even recall having. My neuro put me on 500 keppra 1 week now I m on 1000 keppra. Next week I will be on 1500 mg keppra. Then bloodwork in feb and back to the neuro. Is it safe to still drink on keppra?? Not a drinker every night just once a week a little buzz would be nice??

Hello, Bbish900. I have taken Keppra for 7 years. And most likely take it my entire life. The good thing about keppra is that there are very few side effects. Usually this medication is taken in conjunction with a second AED. My neuro doc raised me to 3000mg daily and for the first time ever, I had a clean EEG. The most common side effect this medication has had on me is increased irritation, moody, sometimes a bit combative. I'm normally not a drinker, just maybe some wine when there are family social events. You did not mention if there are other meds. An occasional drink shouldn't hurt. To be on the safe side, if you have someone to see you safely home, would be recommended. Hopefully this medication will benefit you. Best of luck and take care. ~ Weinrott

Keppra is the only med the neuro wants me on as of now. Who knows what the future will bring? I am not normally a drinker either but would like to have a couple occasionally. Definitely won't drink and drive. Not that stupid!! So far the only side effect I can tell is tiredness. Hopefully that side effect will go away since I am not the napped type. Only been on keppra 1 and a half weeks. Time will tell. U take care too
