I take metoprolol and flecainide too, for afib. I was told that I would have to take them for the rest of my life. As for taking diltiazem with flecainide. I think you should talk with your doctor. It was my understanding that these two drugs should not be taken together. I was at first taking diltiazem after being treated at the hospital for afib. Within a week, I was weaned off the diltiazem and switched to Toprol ( metoprolol ). This may have been because of some other condition my doctor suspected. However I would be sure to check with him ( or her ) regarding this. I do believe they can have interactions, but your doctor or pharmacist would know more about this.
