The dosage is 5 ml twice a day... I have a slightly enlarged prostrate (63 yrs old) and a mild underactive thyroid... Should I ask my urinary doctor and primary doctor if they agree with my gastroenterologist prescribing this drug ? Have you had paregoric prescribed to firm up stool (has been pudding consistency).

Dear Wakulla 168, Sorry about your thyroid and colitis problems. Wish I could help you, but I too have a problem, Short Bowel Syndrome. The only drug that will relieve the diarrhea from this is Paregoric. Where do you find it? I have had a normal life for many years with this drug but now cannot find it. Don't want to stay housebound. If you can help, I shall appreciate it. Capt. Shaw

i definitly know the pudding effect! iam on paregoric liquid also could not live without it! i take @ bedtime i also have hysocyamiine 0.125mg sublingual that i only take during bad episode due to blurred vision and drowsiness.paregoric liquid is the only med. that i have no side effects from.

Dear Wakulla 168 Thanks for your answer that Paregoric requires a prescription. I know that. I have a prescription. What I meant was where can I find the Paregoric? No one seems able to get it. Many manufacturers seem to have stopped making it. If you know of a store that can ship and has the drug, may I know where you had your prescription filled?
