Hi JenLeigh1986 & welcome to the site. A Pain pump is a contraption that delivers the pain med, usually morphine, but others are used , directly to the area of pain instead of taking pain pill by mouth that effect the whole body. Hope this helps, & try not to be too scared. Your pain doctor will explain it to you in much better etail. Good luck to you... Mary632009

If you can get one I'd say go for it. It's not easy to find a doctor who will commit to the long term every 1-2 months filling it. But it let's you get good pain control with only a small amount of meds delivered right into your spine. There's a group on Yahoo called "Pumpsters". You have to apply to join - just tell them what you said here and they'll let you in. You can read years of comments and folks there will help you. I hope you get relief from your pain - ElizaJane

okay, i am going back your originial proplem. i also had several abdomenal surgeries, but was still in horrible pain! I found a Dr. that believed in 'adhesions' or scar tissues developing in the abdomin after these surgeries. He went in and cleaned out the scar tissue and then before closing, added two quarts of a medical gel that coats your insides, makes them slick, so that scar tissue can not occur. If i had not found this guys I would have been on a pain pump because I had no where else to go at the time. just a thought. May God be with you. Harmony

Harmony is completely correct on this too. If they can't figure out your pain, it probably is scar tissue & adhesions. My hubby had this after having 8 abdominal surgeries, & they found a calcification that had actually turned to bone from the previous surgeries. When the doc called me in the surgery waiting room he said "well we found a bone in there". I thought he meant like a chicken bone or something! He laughed at this, & said" no, it was from the previous surgeries & was about 8 inches long." They removed it & no more problems at that time. Just a thought... Mary
