I have severe migrains and suffer from mood swings, my Dr. prescribed lamictal along with Nardil that I have been taking for over a year. I do not suffer from Bi polar, or depression. I'm wondering if anyone else is treated with Nardil for migraines and Lamical for mood swings??
Anyone else taking Nardil and Lamactil for migraines and mood swings?

chrylhuff, You use the terms 'mood swings' and 'migraines' in the present tense, so it sounds like you still suffer from these conditions... do you?
He would have prescribed lamictal for the mood swings, simply because you have mood swings, or perhaps without saying, he may think you have bipolar disorder.
Nardil is used for 'atypical' (unusual type of), depression. There is no indication that either of these drugs treat migraines.
After a year on these two meds, how are you? Do you still have migraines? Is it possible he may have thought stress and depression were bringing on the migraines? I say depression because you mentioned mood swings.
This therapy sounds kind of unusual, but is it working?
I'd be really interested in knowing.

I think you are right neison71. It does sound unusual. Mood awings could be depression, Bi-Polar or something else. Need more information from chrythuff to answer this question.
I have been taking Nardil for the past year, when I was taking 4 (15mg) a day, I felt like I had my life back, no migraine at all. I actually lost weight and feel wonderful.
I felt like I was over medicated, memory lasp, and kinda like in a fog, so I slacked off on them to 1 pill. I do, from time to time suffer migraines now , but they are managable. With out the Nardil, I suffered almost daily with migraines. My migraines started with blunt force trauma to the face 13 yrs ago. I have tried every medication in the book, Nardil is the only one that has worked for me this well, and this long.
Yesterday, when I went to get my prescription refilled at the Dr. office , I mentioned mood swings and he prescribed lamical. He also told me that the Nardil will also help with the mood swings but I needed to increase the dose to 3 a day.
I'm not bipolar, I do not suffer from depression.
So is mood swing a form of depression??
My mood swings seem to be targeted to 1 person.
