I am just wondering, have you tried drinking tonic water?
What is interesting is that I had not heard that PBC causing your symptoms. The only thing I can think is your system being toxic because of your illiness. Making sure you get enough sleep. So you can find the strength to fight off these toxins.
I would start to keep a journal of what you eat. Then you might find what toxifys your system and what causes your painful symptoms. You can not reverse where you are now. But I know you would not be here if you were not looking to feel better.
I hope you feel better soon.
BTW: I do not know if you fall into this area, but I do find it interesting.

Try Tonic Water during the day and at night. Quinine in the tonic water is what makes it work quite well.
Best Wishes
i have not tried the tonic water..is it gross tasting? i know i cant stand the clubb soda is it anything like that?
i heard that quinine has been discontinued for prescription. apparently there was some danger.
maryokie,
i have been diagnosed with pbs for about 10 yrs i think. i really cant remember exactly. i try hard not to think about it cuz it just depresses me to tears. i take actigall also. but they cramps r not related to that medicine i know this because i was getting them even when i was taking the urso250. my ins no longer covers the urso since actigall has been determined to be the generic equivalent. i have no idea why i get these bu they r truly painful. i also have been wakened in the night because of it. the only thing i have found to help ease it at all is heat. and then i need it almost immediately . i usually make my way to the tub and turn the water on as hot as i can handle and put my foot in ther and if its my calf then i try to either sit in tub or hold it under the faucet so the water runs down the calf. one time my aunt had me try icy hot when i felt it coming in and it did seem to help. bu t i don't usually get any pre warning that is coming. it just is there.i dotn have a nyone to really talk to about my illness that is why i searched out a support group. im hoping it can be a source of not only information sharing but maybe bring me some comfort in knowing ther is someone who can understand and relate.
I just had a thought. In the sports stores, they have little packets that you can put in your hands or in your socks in the winter weather to make instant heat. These packets are just about 1" by 1 1/2". People who ski it really helps disapates the frost.
Have you tried thermal socks?

I am a PBC'er for 18 years and take Actigall, I was getting terrible foot and leg cramps and it brought me to screams while on vacation in Hawaii in September. I never got them before and now I am afraid when I am sleeping It wakes me nothing seemed to help.
