I have just been persribed Clonazepam and took my first dose today at lunch time. For about 10 minutes I experienced intense sysptoms of hallucinations and according to my partner 'Said stange things'. I then fell asleep virtually comatose for a few hours, and could not be woken even when shaken. Is this normal? I cant remember any of this happening and since waking have slurred speech, and loss of balance and co-ordination.
I have just been perscribed Clonazepam?

I would contact your doctor as soon as possible and not take another dose until you speek with him/her. At least talk to the doctor on call.
You don't say what your dose is but I take 1 mg twice a day. Have not had any real side effects even with my first dose. Good luck!

Thank you both for your responses, I have been perscribed 2mg to be taken as necessary up to 3 times daily. I have also been perscribed Triazolam for sleeping and Citalopram as an antidepressant. I did not take any Triazolam until last night and Citalopram this morning.

The first time I took Clonazepam I fell asleep while I was talking on the phone to my cousin. I woke up the next day and didn't remember falling asleep. So the extreme sleepiness is possibly to be expected since you were prescribed 2 mg. I was only taking a 1 mg pill. I did not experience hallucinations and I hope you have since talked to your doctor and resolved this.

CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR ASAP, you have not stated the dose you're on, however mixed with other drugs, could also be causing you symptoms. Please check this out before something serious happens to your "well being", and let us know how you're doing, this worries me beyond any words I could express right now my friend. Please check it out, better to be safe than sorry I always say. My best to, and I will be thinking of you until we hear from you again dear one.. God Bless and Good Luck!

CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR ASAP.I don't think it's all that serious but who am I.The first couple of days you take Klonopin or generic for(clonazepam).I have always known people tend to be prone to the tiredness and passing out part.Never heard of people HALLUCINATING before.I mean.I have been taking this medication for almost 3 years now and have never experienced anything like what you are describing.I take this medication for seizures and the worse side effect that I have experienced. Is the loss of fatigue and sort of an overall weakness.I hope this helps you out a little and remember there is always someone here.who is more than willing to help you.Let me know how it all works out.

I take Clonazapam 0.5 mg's twice a day but my psychiatrist told me that for some medications the first time you madicate it can have some bad side affects. My doctor advised me to only take half of the dose he prescribed me for the first few days so my body and brain could get used to the new drug flowing through my body... He also did the same with my zoloft prescription... Just a suggestion but maybe start off at a lower dose and than gradually work your self up to the prescribed dose. I also agree with murphyent definitely consult your doctor about this if it continues to affect you in this manner.
