My PSA count is high (5-6.5) but not bad prostate symptoms.
Prostate is not enlarged, but rough. Urologist is worried about Prostate Cancer. I've been taking saw palmetto for some time but PSA scores have not reduced significantly. Does Avodart sound right for me? Ralph (Age: 68)

Avodart prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. DHT is involved in the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Avodart is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate. Dutasteride helps improve urinary flow and may also reduce your need for prostate surgery later on.
Your urologist would have given you the right medicine ... however, if he/she is worried that symptoms could be related to testicular cancer then perhaps all investigations need to be done to definitely rule it out.
Please discuss with your urologist.
