I had a severe head injury and it made my depression worse. I was on Effexor and it stopped working. Dr. put me on Lithium and Lamictal which had side effects I couldn't live with. According to what I've read, Pristiq doesn't have any of the same effects. I have no energy, no get up and go, no desire to go anywhere and unless I have to get up and go to work, no nothing. any answers?
I have BiPolar II. Will Pristiq help me?

Hey Kippi,
I have been on an antidepressant for many many years. I recently started Pristiq and have found it very satisfactory. It has given me energy and motivation that I was lacking. I sleep less and am able to concentrate better. Incidently, I also take Wellbutrin with the Pristiq which helps with the concentration piece.
I highly recommend Pristiq. I only had mild side effects when I first started this medication which included nausea and head ache. These side effects subsided with continued use. I no longer experience any side effects other than excessive sweating which I can live with.
Pristiq is very similar to Effexor in chemical make up but is a newer version of the Effexor which does have less side effects.

I don't have trouble concentrating. All I want to do is sleep. Not so sure about the sweating part. No weight gain? Thanks.
No weight gain, in fact I have lost 25 lbs since I started Pristiq. I have been trying to lose weight though. It really did make a difference as far as not sleeping so much.
