This medicine was precribed for my nephew who had a minor ankle surgery. He told me it was a painkiller and he could sleep well after taking it. I start taking it when I had sprain my neck because of sleeping on the wrong side and now I am taking it even when I dont have pain now. I take 2tablets a day just to relax and sleep. I know any medicine which is not precribed by a doctor for you is not good but I feel good after taking it. I could do my daily routine work after taking this medicine. Is it going to effect my health in long run taking it? Please help me. I just dont know why I want to take this medicine just to relax myself(lately I have been going through stress) Ultracet makes me feel good. What should I do and how can I get better without this medication?I think I need some kind of moral support but I cant find anywhere.

Hi yoges,
If you are taking it for any other reason than what it was prescribed for, I would call that abuse of this medication. Please do a slow taper to get off of Ultracet, that way you will not suffer horrible withdrawal. Someone else can give you a taper plan.
If you go cold turkey off it, seizures are a possibility, so doing a taper is a good idea.
Best wishes to you,

Hi yoges
That's how it started for me. You are taking these pills for too long. I had a back injury in 2000 - on hydrocodone for 7 years. Took me that long to realize that I had developed a physical dependency. Ultracet is an opioid and will be habit forming if you take it too long or more then you should. Taking it for no reason or for non pain regulation is the first sign of a habit - at least it was for me with hydro - which I know now.
I dont think I depend on this medication but I just take it because I could get sleep well after a hard day. I go through a lot of stress when I come back home just to relax I take this medication. Sometimes I skip taking this medication when I am not stress. I take 1 to 2 tablets a day (just before I go to bed). I get it from the pharmacies when I need it. I can feel that when I take it daily it does not work(I dont feel anything but did'nt want to increase the dosage) I only feel good when I take it every 2days once. I dont get any withdraw symptoms. Is it alright to take ultracet once in 2days? It makes me feel better the next day.
Is Ultracet a trangulizer?

Hey yoges,
If you are taking the Ultracet daily over the past year and taking when you don't need it, then you are abusing this medication. Your body is addicted to it. If you would like to get off this medicine, as Sweetlemon said, you need to taper not quit cold turkey. If you post how much and how often you are taking the Ultracet, I would be happy to help you with a taper plan.
Best wishes,
Laurie
I take 1 to 2 tablets a day. I take it after I come back from work feeling really tired. Feel better once I take it to do my house work and go to bed. I feel fresh the next morning to start another day. How can a taper plan help? Please help me? I dont want to have any other health problem when I grew older. I am 45yrs now.
When Laurie Shay sees that you posted how much you are taking, I'm sure she can give you a good tapering plan to get off of it, before it destroys your life. This medication is indended for short term use, like dental pain.
Tis an opioid pain killer, and therefore, not to be taken for sleep or energy.
After you taper off of it, you may feel badly for a while, it takes the brain time to recover from using this stuff. But feel better YOU WILL, just wait and don't do anything until Laurie can provide you with a good taper plan!!!
Never mess with any opiate pain meds again (unless you absolutely need them for surgery) because tis obvious you have a predeliction for addiction.
Wishing you all the best, and if you find yourself depressed after stopping this med, get to a good psychiatrist, and an addiction counsellor!!!
