I am not answering your question as a health care provider but as a daughter whose mother was also dx with 4th stage breast cancer over two years ago. My mother chose to do an alternative treatment in Tijuana, Mexico (Hoxsey treatment). She chose this after having experienced chemo and radiation with her initial dx of breast ca 11 years prior. Thankfully, she is now almost cancer free after two years of Hoxsey tx and no chemo or radiation. My mothers Drs in Mexico put her on a herbal tonic treatment and special (organic food) diet. They did recommend that she also take the Faslodex injections that her American Oncologist was recommending. There are certain unpleasant side effects to the Faslodex, although it is a good alternative. My mother has been on the Faslodex for two years and has only had minimal side effects. The Faslodex injection is meant to be a hormone (estrogen) blocker. It has shown to be effective in blocking estrogen in pts that have estrogen sensitive cancers, such as breast ca. So it does interefere with your hormones, but in a positive way for someone with hormone sensitive ca. Faslodex may cause an increase in your liver enzymes and you may want to discuss this further with your doctor.
I know you posted this 9 months ago and hopefully you have since received good information from your oncologist. I pray that you have a successful treatment. If you are interested in a successful, alternative treatment for this cancer, I would be happy to give you more information on the Hoxsey clinic as would my mother who is living proof that there are other ways to cure cancer.
