Sorry I can not find any information about progesterone shrinking ovarian cysts. Can you ask your specialist for information?

Get a 2nd opinion. My new HMO doc is useless, and after I have my 2nd ultrasound in 3 months--a week from now--I'm going to switch docs. This doc (new as I had to switch back to HMO from PPO) was offering a shot to bring on instant menopause--as I'm probably 4 years away from menopause--or also spoke of a hysterectomy over 1 5cm cyst!!! I researched the shot, and had an instantaneous "What!!! " as it's bad on so many levels (bad for migraine sufferers, check. bad for those whose mothers had osteoporisis, check).
Most will ask you to wait on surgery until the cyst is 7cm (grapefruit size) which took me 2 years to get to from 5 cm last time in '04. And time, it's painful vs. the last time which only hurt when I'd sneeze. This time it doubles me over--every once in a while for the past 4 months, though I've had it for 2 years.

My new doc rolled his eyes in our 1st meeting, when I asked about ovarian cancer, after I'd researched it on the internet. I had to email him later that his bedside manner sucks because in the age of the internet, you can't assume all your patients are morons. We have to self-diagnose in this HMO, and push for everything. So get a 2nd opinion. I'm going to opt for the surgery as soon as time allows. I can't take this pain waiting for them to get off their wallet. They gave me Norco, and sometimes I need a heating pad. You can't teach and just sit on Norco and a heating pad. What? Do they expect me to walk around with an electric heating pad on my womb? They're such idiots (& I just did my normal "suck" typo on such).
just an fyi. I've been on microgestin birth control pills for a month, and the second ultrasound I had in a 3 month time period showed that the cyst that's been painful (nonstop since January to April and sporadically to June) is resolving. The new ultrasound shows them more to think about on the right than the left, but it was hurting really only on the left except for a minor twinge here and there on the right. I did finally opt for the Lupron shot yesterday from a different doctor who took more time to explain it, and wasn't the arrogant guy. So we'll see how it goes for the next 3 months (of synthetic menopause). The first guy didn't explain that Lupron is just a temporary thing and that women can actually get pregnant after it wears off. I thought it was a permanent thing. The recent pain wasn't as bad as before, but I still ended up having to dig my Norco back out, and was nearly crying this past Monday.

This was after the results of the u/s showed it as resolving, but I was thinking, "Then why does it hurt so much?!" Hopefully it will clear up completely!
