... Been taking lorcet 10s for about 9 months now. I dont wanna get addicted but they are the only thing that helps. My dr also gave me muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatories but they dont help the pain at all. Is there any home remedies that anyone uses for there lower back pain that actually works? Im 25 and have to small kids. It would be great to not hurt and be able to play with them like I use to. Any info will help. Thanks so much... Melissa

thank you clay. i am completely dependent on my pain meds just to get off the couch. i cannot believe that at 25, i am unable to move like a normal person! life sucks so bad right now. i just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia. i should have known something was wrong. i have hurt all over for about 2 years. the narcotic pain meds are the only thing that work... and unfortunatey i am seeing one of them dr's that dont like prescribing those types of medications. he took me down from 4 a day (that my pcp was prescribing) to 70 a month... which is only 2 to 3 a day. when i go back, im gonna ask for something stronger. if he is only gonna give me 2 a day, i need something that is time released or something. the lorcets give me about 2 hours of pain relief. so im in pain for about 17 hrs out of the day! i wish these doctors knew first hand what we go thru with chronic pain. they hold the fact that ppl abuse these drugs against us... the true patients. im hoping to find some kind of relief soon
I hear fybromyalga is very painful. If your doc is reluctant to give you the meds that help you might seek a pain mgt. doctor thats what kind I see.He actually took the time to find out what was causing my pain instead of treating me like a drug seeker like previous doctors had done.
thats the worse part. i am in pain management! the dr i see is an hour away and he doesnt really help. he is one of them drs that have the outlook of... you're gonna be in pain for the rest of your life, get use to it! he basically wants me to suck it up and get over it. i hate this man!
Thats not good at all.I thought maybe it was a family doc.If hes tryin to cut you down already find a new doc. Thats not cool theres too much pain meds for a person in legitimate constant pain to have to suffer.I hope you can find a doctor that can help you stay out of pain.I know how it is i have a few kids myself and when youre hurtin you dont feel like doin anything and you can get irritated very easily.I wish you the best of luck.
i miss seeing my family dr. he gave me 120 a month, where now i get 70. i take 2 a day & 10 days out of the month, i am blessed with 3! the other pm doctor nearby is always booked up & it takes about 2 months to get in to see him. i think it might be worth the wait tho!
Thats what I'd do.Make the apt.and wait see your other dr.in the meantime.Or go back to your family dr.
Yes melissa I know where you are going with this problem. In 2003 I got in a training accident while I was in the Army. I loved the Army and if they could fix my back and neck I would go back. With that Injury I sustained 4 messedup disks in my back and 3 in my neck. I also have a pinced siatica (not sure on spelling sry) nerve which causes pain down my left leg too. I have three kids and I love to coace my sons teams. I started taking pain meds b4 i got out of the Army I have never ran out since, any doctor who is legaly able to write them will to me when I show them my med records. The problem you are facing is the long term... after 8 years now I have to take way to many not cause I want to, but because my tollerance over the years has gone way up. I never abused them and only took what killed the pain, I no longer catch and drowsiness or buzz or anything on them but wasnt looking for that anyways. That many is what it takes just to kill the pain a little.

If I run out it is bad real bad, you dont want that these meds In my opinion do work for pain but should not be taken for long term. I am in the process of trying to get off them completely right now was searching on how to deal with withdrawls on the net and saw this. The last time I went to the va to try and get surgery the at the time 7th doc I saw told me yet again I was to high risk, so I asked him what was I supposed to do I have to work and I have kids. He said "well just take pain meds till the practice of medicine catches up and we can fix you." at the time sounded barable but as we all know that now has become something that is going to kill me. I guess what I am trying to say is keep searching for the alternative, yes take them till you find it but trust me you dont want to take these for very long. They do work for pain but they cause alot more pain in your life than they relieve physically. If I find a alternative I will let you know but even with my disabled veterans pay I have to find a way to be pain free or pain reduced to so I can work. and guess what, when you take these for so long tylenoll and most of the over the counters dont work for anything anymore.
Good Luck I wish you the best and I hope my story helps others cause getting off them medically is about 10 times what they cost to take.
