It works well as a muscle relaxant but take it at bedtime. It can make you very sleepy and gives some people a "drunk" feeling.

soma is a bad drug, their are better ones like valium. Heere is my experiencee i was on it for 3 yrs and one night at 2am i left my house NAKED and went for.drive, i dont know how i got home. One night i went through a dui checkpoint, i was tired, slurrd speech, they gave me a breathalizer which came back 0 because i have never had alcohol in my lifr. They searched my car found my soma arrested me took my blood hrld me in jail for 8hrs, then relleased me. I thought that was over, 4 moonths later i keep a summons for court for a dui, driving while on prescrption mdication. So for 7yrs ihad a dui on record and everything else that goes with that 3500 in fines jail time classes aa meetings. So please be careful. Soma is NOT a bad drug! It does a dis-service to others to make such a broad statement. I have been on Soma (the generic version) since late 2006, and have never had a problem. I have NEVER had to increase my dose--it just keeps working the same as the first time I took it. You DO want to test it at bedtime for the first few days, as it CAN make you very sleepy--which for me, was a wonderful 'side effect' as I have had insomnia for over 35 years, and this was the first med that ever 'allowed' me to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up without feeling hung over!! The literature says not to take Soma if you have an 'addictive personality' but otherwise it should be safe. Just be sure to check it against any other drugs you are taking for possible interactions. I have cervical stenosis, and the muscles in my neck and shoulders feel like steel bands--so I know what you are going through.
