I had surgery removing ovaries & now going thru full blown menopause - how long will symptoms last?

Actually, some people take years to go through menopause, but I didn't want to sound too pessimistic. but it can get better. Every person has different hormone levels, then the master gland regulates the production-I think everybody is different from diet, stress, genetics, emotional state, different meds, and medical conditions. Before I had my hysterectomy-they said I didn't need one because I was in menopause-during the surgery, they left the ovaries in because they were like the ovaries of somebody about 29-30. I had a friend seeing the same doctors, and she was in menopause at the age of 28, and she suffered greatly, as they said that it was all in her head. They ran hormone tests on us about the same time. Both of us, and our husbands had great anger at GYN and shrinks-mostly GYN. For some reason I liked the Navy GYNs that served as combat surgeons in WW II. I didn't much like any of the others.

I finally got my surgery-then it was still a mess for me because of the anesthesia problems, then being given the wrong hormones. But I did find a flight surgeon that listened and gave me the right meds. Then when I went through menopause again when my ovaries actually shut down, I had another flight surgeon that was good. They said that I was lucky because I was on the proper hormone suppliments from the first flight surgeon. Sometimes I feel that it doesn't really help to think too far ahead-Most people luck out and get the right hormones, etc in about a year, but that doesn't mean that a woman is free of everything. Then there are still doctors that give placebos, which doesn't help at all. I remember sitting in a small class with only one male. Sometimes the room was over or under -heated. After 6 weeks, the young male asked why we came in and somebody eneviabley asked if the room was hot or was it just her. I told him that women's bodies heat up during ovulation, pre-menopause, menopause-hot flashes, hormone suppliments, etc. So we made him the official room temp monitor. What I hated was the sensation of my skin crawling-it's crawling now just thinking about it. My mom's generation said that after menopause, you didn't have zits anymore. I made that comment to the second flight surgeon. He said, "Not true-some women get worse zits." I sat and cried and asked him why did he have to ruin life for me. Can't a woman have some hope that something would be better? Of course, he just stared at me and wrote in my chart.
