I had dental surgery 10 days ago and now need to take Cytotec twice a day for the next 7 days as a pre-procedure med... the patient education for Cytotec says to make your MD aware that you had or are having dental work done if you are currently taking Cytotec... why?

As a general precaution your dentist and MD should be aware of any medications you are taking and conditions you have so as not to prescribe medicines etc that may make your problem worse.
It is not uncommon to have to take cytotec before / after surgery for the prevention of NSAID-induced gastric ulcers.
