... warfarin, verapamil, spiriva, and when needed albuteral, and percocet for pain. My ankles still swell, during the day, also my calcium is high.
My doctor wants me to have the zometa infusion, which takes 30 to 40 min. I just had a blood test done this.
I am 70 and don't have osteoporosis.
Is there any danger for me in having this procedure done? I don't know any one, who also had fractured knees, shoulder, femur, who got Zometa.

I am 57 and I've been getting Zometa for 6 years. I am on many of the same meds as you and have a heart condition, as well. Zometa is not used just for osteoporosis, but for many conditions. You need to ask your doctor to explain his reasoning for giving you the Zometa and how he feels it will benefit you. The medicine, for me at least, does not cause any severe side effects. A little leg cramping or abdominal cramping is the worst. Occasionally, I will get a headache. I get it to strenghten my bones to make it harder for bone lesions to form because of multiple myeloma. So far, it has worked well for me. Bottom line, you need to get your doctor to explain more fully to you why he feels you need Zometa.
