... anaphylaxis for decades. A few years ago I got sick and my doctor put me on Gabapentin. In that time I was exposed to my worst allergy I grabbed my epi pen and inhaler and waited for it to hit. It was so mild I didn't even need any of it. I share this because I have now been on this medication for a few years. I can go out to eat again I still get mildly sick if exposed but it's gastro and I loose my voice.
I don't have a question just a story. My name is Sarah Brucker. I have suffered from food related?

That's quite interesting. I too have lots of food allergies, have tried gabepentin for nerve pain, but to no avail did it help either. It's a seizure med that is used for neuropathy type of pain. Helps calm the nerves. Maybe that the relation in helping you with anaphylaxis is it's calming the nerves involved in the process. Thanks for sharing this tidbit of info, & happy eating...

Sarah,
thank you SO much for sharing this! I did not know there was a name for what my dad suffers from. It was the scariest thing! He cannot eat msg or his throat literally closes up on him! To witness that first hand was something I will never forget! It was the most helpless feeling. He was literally choking on some rice because his throat just... shut! This happened years ago, but I can remember it like it was yesterday. I will be seeing him later this afternoon and I will tell him what I learned here from you today.
Again, thank you so much for this. Please come and visit with us more often. It is always great to have a variety of people, each with their own experiences to add to the group!
Have a great day,
~Jillynnie

Are you allergic to these foods? I am allergic to many things and my allergist has helped with testing for things. I know if I eat what I am allergic to I can very well need that EPI pen! I was on Neurontin for a couple of years but there was no difference with my allergies. I'm very glad you found something that is helping you though - that is wonderful!
