i am not sure if this allergic reaction is after taking 1 dose of Dukoral vaccine. Week after I had few spots on my arms, my doctor prescribed me Hydroxyzine 25mg, I am using it 3x a day for 3 weeks now, arms full of hives. I need help, I need to travel to Mexico in 10 days.
I am using Hydroxyzine HCI 25mg for past 3 weeks to treat hives, it 's not getting better. help me?

You need to get back to your doctor tomorrow? ASAP or go to the Emergency room at the hospital. You are doing something or eating something that is causing this & it can put you in anaphlactic shock. Please try to think of anything new detergent change, or new blanket, clothes , different foods or candy you are eating, changing brands? You have an allergy to somethig! Are you taking any other new meds? Could be a lot of different things, & you should be prescribed an" epi pen "& shown how to use it just in case if you are planning a trip. Please go to your doctor or ER before going on the trip to Mexico. This could get worse & stop you fro breathing...

My mother-in-law used to get hives. Hers were caused by stress.
Please DO NOT SCRATCH the hives when they itch.

Thank you Mary for your advise. I have doctor appointment on Tuesday, should I go to ER today? I am not using anything new, just that Dukoral vaccine, I was under stress lately, maybe that is causing it.
If it's not any worse or not near the face, or chest & not having problems with breathing, keep taking your med as prescribed until Tuesday. If it were me, I wouldn't wait, but the choice is ultimately yours.
You could also call the ER & ask their opinion. I';m sure a nurse would talk to you. Just another thought! Good luck... Hope you can take your trip! Sounds fun...
Thank you Mary for your help, I went to ER and they prescribed me stronger meds... Prednisone 50mg, 1 tab a day, and Hydroxyzine 50 mg, 4x a day.
They said they would use "epi pen" only if it would be life threatening.
So I have to hope, this will work for me, before I'll go to Mexico. It's for long term stay. Ones more, thank you... Ahoj
You are more than welcome. I hope this helps. Please read up on these meds at the top of the page for the side effects. 50mg is a large dose. I was given 60 one time & just couldn't handle how it made me feel. Shakey, nervous , nauseous, etc... So make sure you can handle it at that dose before you leae. At top of page Drugs A toZ just look for the name of your med & click it will give you all the info on it. Have fun on your trip where ever it takes you...
