I am on Effexor XR 275 mg daily along with geodon 160 mg per day. My doctor wants to put me on?

hello chrissy46. Well, to answer your question, about Remeron. I've been on it for several years now. I take the generic, Mirtazapine. It helps my sleep. I am an insomniac, so every little bit helps. In the anxiety department, It really does little if anything for me, so I take Paxil. The so called down side to the Remeron is weight gain. I divide my dose in 3 seperate times. I'm on 130mg and each pill is 45mg. to combat, fight the munchies is that I take my dinner hour lateer in the evening, usually around 7-30. My gravings kick in, since by that time I've already taken 90mg, and so instead of snacks, I eat my evening meal. Aside from the weight issue, I find it a drug that is actually in my case, have very little to complain about I'm certain that you'll find the best time to take it is in the evening. I find that it makes me sleepy some 3 hours after taking the first pill. I hope that you find it a good medication to be on. Have a great weekend.

I have been on Remeron for 3 years now. I started on 7.5 mg and now I take 45 mg. I found that the lower doses didn't control my depression and anxiety. It wasn't until I started taking 45 mg did my depression start to get in control. However, it is best to start low and go up as needed.

I take it at bedtime as it does make you sleepy.

It doesn't help much with anxiety so I take valium and gabapentin for that. I have found that over the years, the increase in appetite has diminshed some such that I don't get too many urges to eat more than I should.
