I recently started taking it (120 mg) and don't know what to expect. What has been your experience?
I am interested in any feedback, opinions about Cymbalta.

I have been taking 60 mg./day of Cymbalta for four years now. It REALLY works for my depression. I am bipolar and thought that the Cymbalta caused a manic episode. I tried to decrease my dosage to 30 mg. I had the WORST withdrawal symptoms after only three days so I went back to the 60 mg. I have Fibromyalgia and it helps reduce the pain from that. It did make me severely constipated, so I have had to employ various techniques to stay regular. All-in-all, I regard it as a wonder drug and am glad I take it.

Hi, my experience of taking 60 mg of cymbalta for over 5 years was great for my fibro, but it quit working for my depression after 4 years. My Dr increased my dose to 120mg but it caused extreme emotional problems resulting in me thinking I was losing my mind because feelings of past grief and loss, sadness and uncontrolable crying. I made the decision to get off the cymbalta and go onto prozac. The withdrawl from the cymbalta was a nightmare. Headaches, brain zaps, ringing in my ears, light headness, nausea, irritability, and extreme short temper. It took me over 6mo to rid my system of cymbalta. I would not recommend this nasty drug to anyone. Good luck to you and I do hope you feel better and will find a medication that will help with the fibro pain and depression. Its not an easy task... D

Dear Lisa,
I took cymbalta for years for depression with excellent results. I switched to Pristiq about a year and a half ago because the Cymbalta made me too sleepy. You are already on the maximum dose. You'll have to see how it does over the course of a month or two, if it doesn't help or you are too tired, I recommend Pristiq which is also a SNRI type antidepressant.
DR. had my wife on 30mg 5 r 6 years just up her to 60 mg ant no DR. but sounds like a lot 2 began on ?
Thank you all for the info. I think it's such a high dose because my depression is so severe right now. So far it's alright and seems to help my pain some too. Thanks again and I wish all of the best! Lisa Z

deesjava, thanks so much for taking the time to provide me with an informative and sincere answer. I will certainly keep this in mind as I explore other options. I don't have fibro but I have recently been diagnosed with a severe case of tardive dyskinesia which causes me extreme mouth, jaw and tongue pain along with headaches .It also makes my med choices limited because many of them can worsen my condition. I am more interested in controlling my depression right now because with all this going on it is easy for me to feel hopeless and helpless and I am trying to avoid hospitalization entirely. Caring people on this site that are generous enough to share their experience are a big help to me. I hope the prozac is working better for you and thanks again. Lisa Z
