I am allergic to penicillin and my doctor prescribed ceftin to treat lyme disease?

Hello,

First of all did you tell your Doctor before he prescribed Ceftin to you that you were allergic to penicillin?

Know if he/she knows you are allergic, then why would your Doctor give you Ceftin?

Ok I am not a Doctor, I do not judge nor criticize, I found your answer and thank God you have not taken any;

Ceftin (cefuroxime axetil)

What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider Before Taking Ceftin?
You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking Ceftin (cefuroxime axetil) if you have:

An allergy to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics
Kidney disease, such as kidney failure (renal failure)
Any other allergies, including allergies to foods, dyes, or preservatives.

Seek for a second opinion DO NOT TAKE ANY UNTIL YOU TALK TO ANOTHER DOCTOR... IN THE MEANTIME ASK YOUR PHARMACIST. from a caing individual.

After you have clarified all this and if I am right you must take legal action and also report this Doctor..ok.

My friend here is right. I would call your doctor and advise that you are allergic to Penicillin, Ceftin is not reccommended for those who are allergic to Penicillin or the Cillin family (Amoxicillin etc.). This information comes direct from the PDR book which is the one doctors have in there office. Good luck and definately call the doctor, please do not take the Ceftin without letting the doctor know you have allergies to Penicillin first. Hope you are feeling better soon. marjorie zych

A piece of most important advice is to, ALWAYS TELL THE HEALTH CARE PROVIDER OF ANY PROBLEMS YOU HAVE WITH ANY MEDICATIONS.
It can save you life. Not yelling out of meaness, yelling out of concern.
