I am a severe migraine suffere for 17 years now,i take imitrex which does not help all the time?

dude i take imitrex also, at the cost of $250 for twelve pills, doesnt work great, i just smoke alot of medical marijuana.i live in one of the 15 states where its legal, so try that it will defiatly calm u down u know... Maxalt works a little...

As a medical professional, who also suffers from bi-polar disorder, general anxiety disorder, and complex migraines, I do not know a single doctor who would prescribe Klonopin for migraines. Nowhere in the PDR or in any off uses is Klonopin used for migraines. So my first suggestion would be for you to tell your aunt and uncle to find a new doctor. For you, I understand your struggle of a racing mind, anxiety, and a headache. If you are a true migraine sufferer, Imitrex or any other triptan is the worst thing for you because of the vascular implications. You need to be on a medication to PREVENT a migraine. And lucky for you, some of those medicines are old-school anti-depressants like Elavil that will likely help with your anxiety as well. And Elavil is available at many national chain pharmacies for $4. But I don't think you answer is to treat your migraines but to prevent them. Good luck!

Hi, Have you tried Zomig ? I have found that Zomig works just a little better for me than the Imitrex does. With the Zomig it seems as if i have less of a re-occurance of my migraine the next day. Don't give up hope. There's lots of meds out there that may work for you. From what i know of Klonopin it's very addictive. Maybe that's why your Doc does not want to prescribe it. Take care !!

Someone else answered before that Axert shots worked for their Migraine headaches. Hope this could help you too...
