I am 18 weeks pregnant and would like to know if there is a safe herb/antidepressant to take?

You really need to talk to your doctor, also talk to your pharmacist, If you take herbals, there is no way to tell how much is in your system. You and the baby can become toxic and not know it. As with the smoking, a friend of mine instead of smoking took up chewing on straws. Try that or maybe gum. I am sure that you do not want the baby to have secondhand smoke.
I am so happy you came here to find an alternative. Sounds to me like you are going to make a great mommy. Congradulations !!! Keep us in the loop if it is going to be a girl or boy.

Usually, it is unsafe for the developing fetus/baby to be on any sort of antidepressant during pregnancy. My doctor prescribed me with Zoloft during my third trimester because my baby was developing fine and obviously I was nearing my due date. Being on these sort of medications can cause birth defects and or the loss of the baby depending on how far along you are when you start it. Be safe.
