... They took everything. I am still in a great deal of pain but was told that I should start weening off of the pain meds. I'm not an addict, never have been. I am just in terrible pain after 4-6hrs. How long did it take you to stop the prescription pain meds?

Darling, there really isn't any answer, as everybody handles pain differently. It also depends on if nerves were cut in the process. I was in the hospital for 4 days and didn't take any meds home. I wasn't in pain at the hospital. I just slept a lot. I had more pain killers prescribed for a broken arm-dirty break. The pain could be something more than a hysterectomy-Do you have a fever? New Jersey is the only state that requires training and licensing by hospital personnel to clean surgical instruments. A budding infection hurts from dirty instruments-so does dropped sponges that become infected. When you hurt after surgery-LET THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY KNOW-EVEN IF U HAVE TO BE DRIVEN A 100 MILES TO AN URGENT CARE-DEMAND A SECOND OPINION. ASK YOU DOCTOR IF ANY NERVES WERE SEVERED.
Anything that's done to the uterus put my daughter in extreme pain-an intra uterine ring, and a D &C were ghastly for her. I was very angry that she was put through such pain. I took her in for pain killers and scared the doctor into giving her a script. I've known woman that had pain killers for about 3 weeks-some that went hiking 9 weeks later. Since you are in pain-let your doctor know-- My rule of thumb-If I have trouble-the doctor and staff has trouble. I have a problem caused by a medicine-I was at my doctor and Urgent Care-
Take care and let me know if you want to talk more.
