... tablets of the 8mg, and I'm also prescribed 80mg of Oxycontin, and I have been on this high of a dose since November 2005, and its almost November 2009 so your looking at 4 years evry single day. I have never been without so what do you think the doctors will do with me after surgery(spine fusion with the rods, plates, skrews, and bolts put in, and bone graft from my hips)if they have me on this ridiculous amount of medicine before surgery, and if the surgery is a sucess(50% chance it will work 50% it wont)how long will they continue to give me the pain meds cause I'm sure I would have some major withdraws coming off such a large amountof narcotics so can someone give me some info on what you would do in my case

i actually would like to just talk to you about this problem.I too,was on a large dosage of oc.(6 of the 15mg a day and up tp 12 of the 5mg )a day for breakthrough pain, due to spinal stenosis.Dr. said that they were starting me on LOW dosage cause back would never get better, and if they gave me anything stronger ,at first, then where would i b in 2-3 yrs.
well, here i am 3 yrs later and have lost medical coverage due to divorce.i cannot go a day without oc.i get nervous to the panic attack point, sweats, diarhea(sp) goosebumps upon goosebumps, sweats ontop of chills, cramps, etc. i think u get the pic. I hate feeling addicted, but thats what happens. What everyone says is that dr.will prescribe methedone to help craings and pain.Reguardless of what the med is-its expensive.People are buying drugs off the street because they r so addicting .When there is medical cause(as u or I) the drs. should be wanting to help,i ,however fell as if they just write it off as-u can go without it if need b.EASIER SAID THEN DONE-DOC!in the long wrong-your taking drugs to get off of drugs. My dr,said i would never get better and have a 90 %chance of being in a wheelchair w/out surgery(WHICH SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME) I wish i had an answer for what you should do. The sad thing is...with the ongoing problems u r facing, drug use is almost a must. But what is stronger then what your already on?Gosh!it seems impossible to b able to ween off of anything-without being in agonizing pain and/or being sick. ive been treated like its my fault that i am addicted and that its easy to quit. Its not!! I hope and pray that u have better luck than i do.
